New Designer: Jonathan Simkhai

Jonathan Simkhai is a New York born Fashion Designer. His love for fashion started when he was 14 years old when he landed a job in a clothing store where he started practising his skills as a buyer. He then went on to study at Parsons as well as FIT. 

His first women's wear collection first came out in 2010, being a very sophisticated, contemporary range for the new modern woman. A lot of his collections are very feminine, with masculine touches; rather androgynous. 

Above, is just a couple of my favourite outfits/pieces from his A/W13 collection.If you've read the majority of my posts, you will know that I am a huge fan of coats, especially the one on picture 2! I love the way he used four different colours and textures, and married them all together; the central pattern, the grey plaid, looks really good, and a focal point on this great coat.

I also really like the patterned jumper on picture 1. Black, white, yellow, and teal are four great colours which, when together make this fun, quirky colour combination. The geometric patterns make this sweater different, and stand out, and it's also great for the people out there who are into mix-and-matching patterns.

Overall, Jonatahn Simkhai isn't exactly as famous as McQueen, but I'm always on the look out for new designers to keep my eye on, and I have to say, I think he is one them. In a couple of years, I think this man could become a slightly more known name in the Fashion Industry: we'll just wait and see.
